This French cannon was built following an English model of the Previous century.
The French model was improved by mounting a heavier rear piece and to slide te gun onto tracks what enlarged his scope.
This weapon was much used on first - and second class battle ships as "Toulonnaise", "La Belle Poule", "Valmy".
